Op-Art

The geometric graphics that created a style called Optical between the 60s and 70s influenced fashion and art, revolutionizing the design of those years. This trend owes a lot to Bridget Riley who, at the end of the 1950s, gave life to her very personal style which, inspired by pointillism, began to "play" with optical effects. The graphics of the 1920s and 1930s were also certainly an inspiration to her and one of the greatest exponents of geometric black and white of those years was Victor Vasarely. Optical Art obtained one of its highest awards from the Bauhaus but there is no doubt that it reached glory in the 1960s thanks to artistic movements such as Neo-Impressionism, Dadaism, Futurism and Cubism. Mary Quant, Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent, Paco Rabanne are the designers who have made Optical Art an unmistakable sign in the 60s and 70s fashion.
